ANOTHER ALICE

A restless, passionate and recently heartbroken artist returns to rural Sweden to clear out her late grandmother’s abandoned cabin, seeing it as an opportunity for an emotional reset and creative inspiration.

There, she stumbles upon a free-spirited, all-female contemporary dance collective led by a charismatic man, and is drawn into a world of intimacy, freedom and belonging she didn’t realize she was searching for. A little strange, but completely intoxicating. But as Alice slowly takes another woman’s place within the group, that woman disappears.

As desire and belonging blur with obsession and control, Alice begins to question the world she has entered and the people she has come to trust, uncovering something deeply unsettling beneath its seemingly harmonious surface, with roots that may reach all the way back to her own grandmother.

WIGS ANONYMOUS

The crossword constructor Kikko (50) lives a regimented and monotonous life. He wears an ill-fitting, mischievous toupee that keeps him in place. He has no self-confidence.

He doesn’t realise that he is depressed, nor that he longs for someone to share his life with. Kikko’s friend Lasse tries to teach him to smile. His mother Mimmi arranges eccentric blind dates. The support group Wigs Anonymous often argues about the difference between a wig and a toupee, and about who has it worst, but it is also a place where men like Kikko can speak openly and be honest about how their lack of hair affects their self-confidence and everyday lives.

And then there’s Jenny, too. The woman who appears in unexpected places, who makes him lift his gaze and makes him feel warm inside. Kikko needs to break out of his grid to feel better. Opportunities arise, but the toupee always seems to find ways to sabotage things for him.
