FILM STOCKHOLM DEBUT & GOTLAND
DEBUT

Film Stockholm Debut and Gotland Debut is an initiative supporting debut feature film directors in Stockholm and on Gotland. The program offers development support, group and individual sessions, tailored workshops, and exclusive meetings with international industry professionals.

‍Film Stockholm and Film Gotland share a long-standing commitment to film production and talent development. Since 2021, their collaboration has been formalized to strengthen regional filmmaking, and expand opportunities for both filmmakers and production companies.

‍Film Stockholm Debut and Gotland Debut joins forces with Stockholm Industry Days, giving participants a wider platform to present their works in progress. Participating filmmakers from Gotland and Stockholm will showcase their upcoming projects. Together, this collaboration between Film Stockholm Debut, Gotland Debut, and Stockholm Industry Days aims to strengthen the foundation for emerging Swedish cinema, building networks, visibility, and opportunities for new voices across the Nordics and beyond.

Artist Ann Wolff has spent a lifetime moving between design, sculpture and glass, building an international career that extends far beyond the object for which she is best known: the Snowball candle holder.
‍
Now 89, Ann lives on the Swedish island of Gotland with her partner Dirk, surrounded by more than five decades of work. As they look back on a shared life of art, travel and experimentation, the story of the Snowball returns. Questions about royalties, authorship and the origin of the Snowball bring an unresolved part of her past back into the present.
‍
Moving between their life together today, Ann’s artistic journey and the complicated history of the Snowball, the film explores how one small object came to occupy such a large place in the story of her life and work.
‍
As Ann and Dirk grow older, the film gradually turns toward the future. What remains of an artist’s work when the artist is no longer there, and what can be passed on to others?
An intimate documentary about love, creation, recognition and legacy.

Peppe, a broke gambler drowning in debt, is ordered to break fourteen-year-old Omar out of juvenile detention and deliver him to Lilla Edet, a sleepy mill town on the other side of Sweden. Omar thinks the escape is a second chance from Kaleb, the gang leader he worships. Peppe just wants his debt gone.

Stuck together on the road, the cynical alcoholic and the kid who never stops talking clash at every stop, and, against their will, start to care. As the police and a trigger-happy local close in, the real job arrives from Kaleb: kill the boy, and the debt is wiped. A pitch-black comedy about loyalty, and the people who don't deserve it.
